Melee Updates: Round 1
First round of melee updates are out. The affected units are: War Scythe, Melee Gauntlet (included with scythe), Hades Melee, Legionnaire Axe, Laser Blades, Harlequin Melee.
What this update does: -Melee now recognizes MCM test targets and bots. -Melee now reports hits against avatars. -Melee had hidden code that granted 1.5X damage if you were within 1 meter of your target center to center, this is reported as a "solid hit". -Melee actually reads the database heat value for weaponry now and applies it on attack. -A missed melee attack puts the weapon into cooldown.
Melee attacks can potentially work on any scripted object that recognizes MCM damage. However, due to the way sensors work, melee range is measured from center to center between your avatar and the target. Things whose center may be buried deep in their geometry, such as buildings, may be near impossible to effect with melee. Small things, like missiles, are open game. Then again, swatting a missile down with an axe is liable to blow up in your face.
